WASIT WATER TREATMENT PLANT/ Iraq General Scope of the Work: The project consists of civil works of a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Wasit, Governorate together with supply, Assembling testing and commissioning of raw water and treated water mains and of the mechanical, electrical and instrumental equipment. Drinking water WTP net output required by the project shall be 24,000 (m3/day). Water Quality: WTP will provide for treatment of raw water for drinking and domestic use. Thus, the system must treat the raw water so that the WTP effluent will comply with World Health Organization (WHO) standards. The plant is designed to produce the following quality of water, generally in accordance with the WHO guidelines: Target Turbidity 0.5 NTU average, 1 NTU max. E coli or thermo tolerant coliform bacteria 0 in 100ml sample It is anticipated that the target residual metals will be followed, subject to confirmation of concentrations in the raw water, Aluminium Less than 0.2 mg/l Iron Less than 0.2 mg/l Plant Components: The following list of plant components has been established according to WTP detailed design: Pumping and treatment stations and connected facilities: • Raw water intakes and pumping station (RWPS). • Raw water main from RWPS to WTP. • In-line chemical disperser. • Flocculates / clarifiers. • Rapid gravity filters. • Chlorine contact tank. • Treated water storage tank and Pumping station (TWPS). • Treated water main from TWPS to the distribution network. • Wastewater holding tank and pumping station. • Overflow holding tank and pumping station. • Chemicals building. • Chlorine building. • Electrical building. • Miscellaneous chambers.
